Jewelry Test Reports: Match the Sample, Method & Scope
Read a jewelry test report as evidence about its named sample and conditions, then confirm whether it applies to the exact product you plan to buy.

Start with the sample description, report number, applicant and date. Compare the product reference, base metal and finish with the option being quoted. Ask for the full report if any identifying section is missing.
A report for one finish or sample should not be silently applied to every colour, metal or jewelry design in an assortment.
Read the method before the headline
Identify what was tested and under which conditions. Ask which result or limit is relevant to your purchasing requirement rather than relying only on a “passed” label in a promotional image.
The supplier materials shown in our craft feature include test-related claims. Their meaning depends on the complete report and sample; accelerated test hours should not be converted into a universal real-wear lifespan.
Check document authenticity through the issuer
For an SGS-branded report, use SGS’s official verification route and provide the document it asks for. Verifying the document’s origin still leaves a separate question: does the named sample match your order?
Avoid adding a certification badge to your whole product range because one report has been provided. Keep the claim tied to its documented scope.
Put required evidence into the quotation
Tell the wholesale team which product and finish you are considering, what test requirement matters and whether you need a sample for review. Ask which evidence is available before approving the order.
File the agreed specification and corresponding report together. If the material or finish changes later, ask whether the earlier evidence remains applicable.
